The garden at River Dunes is proof that when a community of friends get together, amazing things can be accomplished. It has been a joy to see our residents work so hard on this project with some folks watering, others weeding and tending to assigned daily tasks. Cucumbers are being picked and we look forward to seeing more produce coming soon!

The next 3 weeks is the best time of year for Soft Shell Crabs. Blue Crabs off the North Carolina coast are in a shedding period; where they are molting out of their old, hard shell and harvested before their new shell hardens. They are one of the tastiest treats the east coast offers and if you have had the pleasure of eating one, you know that they hold all the flavor of your everyday crab without any of the hassle of prying meat from its sharp, thick shell. It is seafood in its most perfect state.

Be sure to enjoy our soft shell crab off the menu at the Harbor Club while the season lasts!

Meet the green anole! This lizard is a tree-dwelling species to the southeastern United States and Noth Carolina. A small to medium-sized lizard, the green anole can change its color to several shades from brown to green.

It is also sometimes referred to as the American chameleon (typically in the pet trade) due to its color-changing ability. They love hanging on branches in soaking up the sun. Be sure to say hey if you see them around the neighborhood.
