Dragonboat Races
DRAGON BOAT RACE AT RIVER DUNES
Save the Date: This fun event usually happens in early August at the River Dunes Marina

This event will be two days of a fun on the water with entertainment for friends, family, and everyone who visits.
Teams practice on Friday, with races beginning around 9am on Saturday. Free to attend at Grace Harbor in River Dunes. For more information about this event, contact Flora Moorman at info@orientaldragonboat.com
The River Dunes Dragon Boat Racing Team will be in action; come out and support the paddlers! Dragon Boat paddlers move in unison, combining strength with teamwork in a boat whose elaborate design originates in ancient China. Dragon Boats are the world’s largest flat water racing canoes, propelled by a crew of 20 plus a drummer and a steersperson. Teamwork is everything in dragon boat racing. Synchronicity is more important than strength.
Members of the River Dunes community—not just those paddling in the Dragon Boat Race—have a wonderful OPPORTUNITY to support meaningful causes that benefit individuals of all ages, young and old, throughout Pamlico County.
Listed below are the eight charitable organizations participating in this weekend’s Dragon Boat Race, each raising funds to support their important work.
If you would like to contribute and make a positive impact in our county, please make your checks payable to the organization(s) of your choice. I will be collecting donations through August 8th. If you prefer to send your donation(s) directly to the organization, please be so kind as to let me know the amount so it can be included in the total contribution from the River Dunes community.
Tax-deductible donation receipts will be issued to all who donate via mail by each organization.
River Dunes’ grand total of contributions will be announced, and donation checks will be presented to each organization on the day of the races.
