See River Dunes in Tyson’s Corner
Last weekend’s fund-raiser, Harborfest for Heartworks, held around Grace Harbor at River Dunes, provided a great time for all who attended. The weather was beautiful, the entertainment and food were spectacular, and, most importantly, funds were raised to support the non-profit center that provides services to the children and families of Pamlico County.
The weekend’s events started on Friday evening with barbecue and dancing to the band Saltwater Gold.Saturday, throughout the day, live performances were held at the Outdoor Amphitheater. There was also an art show, a classic car show, and live demonstrations of paddleboarding and fishing. The highlight of the weekend was a gala dinner dance on Saturday night, catered by the Chelsea, with live and silent auctions, followed by dancing to the sounds of The Entertainers.
Congratulations to the volunteers, staff, board members and friends of Heartworks for providing such a great event and for all they do for the families of Pamlico County!
The day was perfect for racing Dragon Boats at Grace Harbor in River Dunes this past Saturday.Eighteen teams competed in crews of 20 rowers, a drummer, and a steerperson.Teams came from all over the eastern United States, and included a boat of cancer survivors, one of high school students, and several manned by members of the military.
River Dunes was well represented by a group of enthusiastic property owners and friends. They dubbed themselves the River Dunes Dragons and sported custom-designed t-shirts combining the dragon and the River Dunes burgee. Well-wishers lined the docks and the Harbor wall to cheer their teams on. A big Well Done to the organizers, participants and visitors – it was a great event!
