On Thursday, March 9th, 40 area business owners, government officials and interested citizens of Pamlico County attended a day-long event at River Dunes. The information session was hosted by the Pamlico County Office of Economic Development and the Pamlico Chamber of Commerce. Speakers included members of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) and the Foreign Trade Promotion Council (FPTC)
The EDPNC gave a presentation on attracting business, industry, and tourists as well as assistance with workforce training. They also shared information regarding resources that are available to businesses from the EDPNC and Department of Commerce.
The Foreign Trade Promotion Council (FTPC) is the lead organization assisting businesses and Counties in the Free Trade Zone – 214 Region, which includes Pamlico County. Presenters gave information about the benefits to businesses of a Free Trade Zone in reduced or no import/export duties/tariffs; and the potential tax benefits to businesses or industrial complexes that set up a Free Trade Zone hub on their site.
