A quick construction update

Maher Construction has been working on a beautiful carriage home in Broadwaters. In the framing walk-thru, Jane and Mike Maher and the owners added extra windows to capture the stunning Parris Creek views. A spacious back deck adds waterfront living space and additional interior trim details like wainscotting add coastal charm to this Alison Ramsey plan.

Further down Homestead Road, Scott Gurganus with Watermark Homes, just installed the first painted windows in the community (Pella in “wineberry”). This is also a unique residence because Historical Concepts designed the guest home and an Alison Ramsey garage was selected that compliments the architecture.
Watermark Homes is also constructing another phased residence overlooking Parris Creek. Watermark’s frequent gatherings at the Club have let these next-door neighbors get to know one another as their homes are under construction. In conversation, they discovered a common thread. Both families love their dogs and their dogs love the water… so both garages have been equipped with dog showers to accommodate salty four-legged friends.

Springing up! New Construction!!

Property Owners at River Dunes are taking advantage of the spring market to start construction! The Architectural Review Board at River Dunes does allow for staged building when owners submit their full plan set and several owners are building carriage homes in the Broadwaters neighborhood. This Mike Maher carriage home has a beautiful view from the back deck and a spacious upstairs apartment.
Watermark Homes of NC is building this guest cottage and carriage home for a family from Virginia. Having the guest structures complete will allow the owners to spend more time at River Dunes and on the water.

Watermark is also building this carriage home next door for a family of four. On Broad and Parris Creeks, these residences will have outstanding views of the Harbor Entrance.

Learn why our owners are moving forward now!“We really talked for hours and hours about moving forward last year. We really felt that this area would hold its value and right now was the time to get in. The infrastructure is here already so we felt very comfortable that all the things we would want were already here.” – Owner from Durham, NC

Christmas Ball Workshop!

The First Annual River Dunes Christmas Ball Workshop was a success! An all-day event, property owners and staffers dropped by to learn how to create the mysterious chicken-wire Christmas Ball.

The Greensboro tradition traveled to River Dunes with families who have moved to the community. Sans potato guns, we’re hanging the first batch over the Harbor Club railing and in low-hanging branches.

Next year, look forward to a community workshop after Thanksgiving. Instructions

Rusty and Steve Ura Tell Their Story

Just before Thanksgiving, the Ura family moved into their new home in River Dunes. They have sent us a few thoughts on their decision to build in River Dunes, and we’d like to share them.

I sit with my morning coffee viewing the water, trees and birds from our new screened porch in River Dunes, I realize even more the meaning of the phrase that Mike and Jane Maher use for their business – “Relationships are the most important thing we build”.They have just provided Steve and I with a whole new relationship with River Dunes.

All phases of constructing our Dunes Home were a pleasure and source of learning and excitement. The outcome has provided us with a home that is truly special and already has special River Dunes memories.

We have had a 5 year old tell us, “This is a very special place.I love it here!”We have had an 85 year old tell us, “What a wonderful place, truly magical!” We have had a business associate drive in, get out of his car, and his first words were, “I have found paradise!”

We couldn’t agree more!We thank the Urasfor the wonderful story, and we look forward to making lots more River Dunes memories with them!

Trust in a River Dunes Master Builder Team

When River Dunes owners John Wild and Kathy Redmond decided to build their home, they turned to the team of Scott Gurganus of Watermark Custom Homes of NC for the construction, and Scott Williams of The Red Rickshaw for design selections. The result of their collaboration is a beautiful home with spectacular views from every room in the house.

John and Kathy recently commented on the high level of trust they experienced with the Watermark team. They found the entire process to be effortless and fun, largely due to the ease of communication and sense of confidence they had in all aspects of completing their home.

Kathy enjoyed photographing the gorgeous sunrises across Cedar Creek and into Pamlico Sound this fall. It’s a real pleasure to have John and Kathy in the River Dunes family!

River Dunes Owners head to Home Port

River Dunes owners John Wild and Kathy Redmond recently made the trip on their boat, Eileen H, down the ICW from Falmouth, MA to home port in Grace Harbor.Scott Gurganus of Watermark Homes, builder of their home on Ballast Point, made the trip with them and shared some wonderful photos (and some great stories) of their trip through New York City.
