Cycle NC Coastal Ride

April 29, 2017

From Friday, April 28 to Sunday, April 30, 2017, cyclists will converge in Oriental for the 14th annual CycleNC Coastal Ride.

“This ride features 3 full days of great routes perfect for any level of cycling experience. Whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned veteran, the Coastal Ride routes are a perfect match. Each day will feature a variety of routes with varying mileages. It’s up to you whether you want to ride a little or ride a lot. All routes are loop rides that start and end in Oriental so there’s no moving camp each day. Over the three days, you’ll travel along back roads with little traffic, experience unique coastal fishing communities and stroll along the waterfront with views of the Neuse River. Let’s not forget about the small-town charm and hospitality that our host town of Oriental will be providing from the minute you roll into town.”  (More on the CycleNC website…)

River Dunes will host a rest stop on Saturday, April 29. Rest stop volunteers are needed!

Oriental Boat Show

April 21 - 23, 2017

Springtime, an historic boating village, a great array of exhibitors, and visitors from ten states all make for a great Oriental In-Water Boat Show.

Oriental’s annual In-water Boat Show has grown exponentially since its beginnings in 2009. The 2016 show drew 100 exhibitors from as far away Hampton, Virginia, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Bryson City, NC. In addition to nautical goods and services, dealers and brokers brought in boats on land and in the slips at Oriental Harbor Marina, many of which were available for in-water sea trials.

Based on the combination of number of vendors, number of boats, sales attributed and number of attendees, the Oriental show has become one of the largest and most successful in-water shows between Annapolis and Savannah. The 2017 show is scheduled for April 21-23.

River Dunes is the Flagship Sponsor for the Oriental Boat Show.

We’ll kick off the summer season with one of our favorite activities, a Raft-Up.  River Dunes owners and club members will be “rafting up” their boats in nearby Broad Creek.  There will be great food, cold beverages, and lots of fun on the water.  You don’t need a boat to join in the fun – we’ll have a “ferry” running back and forth to the dock all afternoon. On land, the pool grill will be serving up sunshine and poolside specials.

Saturday evening, there will be a Cabana Casual dinner with fresh mahi, steaks and chicken on the grill. Served poolside with live music and an open mic session.
